Holly Owens Padilla, Assistant Director
I came to Alaska Crossings in August 2011 after 3 years of seasonal work in the United States Forest Service, Schools, and Residential Behavioral Health Industry in northwest Montana. I originally discovered the power of wilderness while growing up in the great state of Vermont!
The Crossings mission statement sums up my values: I truly want to help youth succeed, however I can! Sharing my excitement and passion for the sciences, art, and the outdoors translates perfectly into working with this organization.
For my first 3 years, I served as The SYSTEMS Project Coordinator, doing my best to bridge the gap between western learning approaches and Alaska Native pathways to knowing. Now as an Assistant Director since 2015, I direct the Logistics and Permitting for all programs; train and facilitate the operations of seasonal Program Managers; assist with marketing strategies and implementation; and cooperate with our diverse team to perform the operations necessary for the program's success and development.
In my free time I am an avid sourdough baker, gardener, mountain-climber, paddler, fisherwoman, huntress, and knitter...in love with all things subsistence-related.
