Through skills development and a therapeutic curriculum, participants learn to use their personal strengths and abilities to manage challenges they face by utilizing the metaphors the wilderness provides.
With a goal to help youth return with the skills and resources they need to be successful in their home, school and community, wilderness expeditions serve as the framework for these skills-based programs. A typical program experience is comprised of three expeditions: canoeing on the ocean, river paddling, and mountaineering. Therapeutic Behavioral Health Clinical Associates, or guides, mentor and build positive relationships with participants as they learn to access personal strengths and abilities. Participants develop and understand skills and assets they possess to ultimately be successful in their everyday lives.
